Overly Excitable

Tenterhooks. Its one of those words that is easy to misinterpret as an eggcorn. Still whether it is on tenterhooks or on tenderhooks, I am just plain on edge.

Last week, Evelin told me the baby had dropped. I immediately asked if she was feeling contractions.

On Friday, she thought she was feeling some Braxton-Hicks contractions. I immediately glommed on to the word contraction.

On Sunday, she said it looked like her mucous plug was starting to break up. I immediately asked if she was feeling contractions.

Yesterday, she was tired in the afternoon and her hands were a little puffy and arthritic feeling. I immediately start wondering if that is some sign of labor.

As of today, Evelin is at 35 weeks, 5 days. Even though the moon was full over the weekend, the baby still has a bit of time in utero. Plus we still have to get a carseat. And take the infant CPR class. And get those Funkis things painted and up on the wall. And. And. And. ...

How Exciting!!!! It's really close, eh?!?!?! 36 weeks is just fine and dandy, so you all are set!

GET THE CAR SEAT **TONIGHT**! Go get a Graco Snugride (cheap and good per consumer reports and baby bargains) and get it in there TONIGHT!!!!

Our fingers are crossed and we're on tender/tenterhooks for you to have the baby at just the right time!!!

Whoops. Apparently, so excited I posted TWO messages!!!

Evelin's been wanting to wait for the shower at her office before we buy the carseat. (There's a history of people chipping in to get some of the big registry items, so we're playing the odds a bit.)

But otherwise, yep, it's getting near ... terrifyingly near ...

I have felt no contractions! No water has broken! Probably my plug is regenerating!! Nothing is happening! Nothing to fear!!! Calm, calm, calm.

Evelin

Easy for you to say, Evelin! ;-) We're all anxiously awaiting your baby!!! Personally, I was not so anxious to have it all happen either.

But, yeah, you'll know when it's about to happen. Although....my pg student lost her plug early and within 10 days (2 weeks??), her bun was done!
